The travel recommendation for today is the Neuschwanstein Castle in Hohenschwangau, Germany.
To tour the castle, you must purchase a ticket in the town below the castle. Information on ticket purchases are
here. Then it's a short walk uphill to the castle. Only parts of the castle are viewable, but the scenery is breathtaking. To get to Hohenschwangau you can take the train from Munich to Fussen, then take the bus into Hohenschwangau. It's a fun and easy day trip from Munich. The castle entrance ticket is 12 euros. The bus to/from Fussen and Hohenschwangau is no more than 5 euros each way depending on departure time. Take time to explore the beauty of the area. Don't just run in look at the castle and run along to the next sight to see. Summer hours are 8am-5pm. Winter hours are 9am-3pm.
If you are adventurous, Go for a hike in the woods upstream from the castle. We even made a river crossing. Don't fall in because you'll end up going over those waterfalls though. When we went (last Aug 2005) the river was rapids on the sides and dry in the center.
